How many heartbeats to send a love email?
© Kasia Molga
While we are flooded with massive amount of data about the emergency of reducing our energy consumption, not many people know how much energy in terms of watts or amps is needed to power up our digital life.
The concept of “materiality” of digital data becomes even more abstract when the data turns into layers of content, where fake and real mix, personal and public opinions fade into each other and sources of information contradicts. This entanglement of all types of data, while becoming information on one hand, on the other hand can easily turn into a false knowledge, and have a true negative emotional and social impact. It also has an impact on how much energy is used to “untangle” it and to gain clarity and truthfulness.
HOW MANY HEARTBEATS TO SEND A LOVE EMAIL? offers a new narrative about energy consumption and digital data through an interactive experience engaging our own body energy. This artwork intends to create awareness on digital pollution caused by infobesity and fake news, and to question our intimate relationship with online data.
