Polltix participated both in the 3rd and 2nd cohort of the MediaFutures support programme,
with two different projecs.
Polltix – depolarising discussions
Polltix aims to address the central issue behind the proliferation of disinformation which is polarisation. The project is going to solve this challenge by developing a new type of public consultation that will help find consensus. The new format will allow the public sector stakeholders to ask open-ended questions, while citizens will be able to submit their own answers and rate answers submitted by others.
The highest-ranked answers will not be those that got the most votes, but those that got the most votes from the most diverse demographic and political groups, showing what the different demographic and political groups agree on. This will help identify common ground among different social groups and reduce the perception of polarization on the issues raised via public consultations
Polltix: building trust in democracies and measuring the effects of disinformation on public opinion
To address the challenge of disinformation, as part of the Media Futures program Polltix will build a widget that will enable media outlets to poll their readers directly on their website and get representative results. The widget will also feature a disinformation index which will show the extent to which the public opinion had been affected by disinformation.
This innovation will empower the media to produce more content addressing the most impactful disinformation narratives contributing to an increase in the public’s resilience to disinformation.
