June has been a busy month in the Nordics for those working on data-related projects, with both MyData 2023 and DataWeek 2023 taking place in Finland and Sweden respectively. Johanna Walker from King’s College London represented the H2020 MediaFutures project at both events.

MyData conference is the leading international conference on human-centric personal data management, advocating for a fair data economy. Since 2016, MyData conferences have influenced the policy and practice of data sharing in Europe and globally. Johanna presented on data literacy – a foundational building block in the fight against misinformation.

DataWeek is the spring gathering of the European Big Data and Data Driven AI research and innovation communities. In Data Week, the participants share knowledge and results, discuss topics of common interest, find synergies, build new collaborations and identify new challenges and recommendations. Data Week (13-15 June) also links the communities and their results to the European policies and market needs and brings European initiatives and activities closer to local communities. MediaFutures met with other H2020 and Horizon Europe projects to discuss common issues of interest, particularly around the creation of data policy and supporting innovation with data.  MediaFutures is also part of the stakeholder board of EUHubs4Data, who co-sponsored DataWeek.
