The MediaFutures project, represented by Alexandra Garatzogianni, Gerrit Rosam and Michael Fribus participated in the panel discussion on Data-driven incubators, organised by EUHubs4Data

The event had the participation of three projects: reach incubator, i4Trust and MediaFutures. All of these projects started in 2020, sharing the common goal of fostering Data-Driven innovation among startups, SMEs and artists to break “data silos” in Europe and in regional ecosystems, each project addressing this objective from different angles.

The event started with some introductory words by Daniel Alonso from EUHubs4Data and Kimmo Rossi Head of Sector “Research and Innovation Execution in the DVC (Data Value Chain)” DGCNECT and Project Officer of EUH4D, highlighting various ways in which EUHubs4Data facilitates collaboration between Data Driven Innovation Hubs and other stakeholders in the data community.

Discussion among the panellists

This was followed with a panel discussion between the participants from reach incubator, i4Trust and MediaFutures. Each project shared insights into how they foster data driven innovation, supporting startups, SMEs and artists.

MediaFutures was represented by Gerrit Rosam, from the Leibniz University Hannover. He shared MediaFutures’ mission of supporting startups and artists in the media domain to fight misinformation and disinformation. So far MediaFutures has supported 16 startups, 10 artists and 17 startup-artist teams, in terms of their first two cohorts. The third and final cohort launched this November and will support 9 startups, 5 artists and 10 startup-artist teams.

The panel discussion focused on how innovation programmes such as reach incubator, i4Trust and MediaFutures can contribute to the sustainability of their programme as well as potential avenues for collaboration between each other. The three projects highlighted various assets of their porgrammes that can be sustained beyond the project’s duration and how fostering collaborations among the projects can contribute to each other’s sustainability strategies.
