

Eurecat is the leading Technology Centre in Catalonia. The centre relies on an interdisciplinary perspective through the experience of over 650 professionals focused on R&D, innovation and training activities ranging from industrial technologies to digital technologies and biotech, generating an annual income of €50M. Eurecat is currently participating in more than 70 EU funded collaborative projects, mainly in the Horizon 2020 Programme. In addition to this wide experience at European level, Eurecat is also a strong player in the various R&D programmes sponsored by the Spanish and Catalan administrations, with more than 160 ongoing projects. Additionally, Eurecat has been accepted by the European Commission as a KETs (Key Enabling Technologies) Technology Centre in order to collaborate with SMEs on close-to-market research and innovation activities In relation to the creative and cultural sector, Eurecat coordinates the RIS3CAT community of Media, addressing all CCIs in the regional ecosystem. It is a community of 35 companies and stakeholders in the Catalan CCI ecosystem.
In MediaFutures the research scientists David Laniado and Julià Vicens from the Big Data & Data Science group of Eurecat led the task on experiment support to provide participants of the open calls with technical mentorship, including guidance in approaches from machine learning, social network analysis, natural language processing and data visualization. The group has extensive expertise in computational social science research obtaining actionable knowledge from people’s digital interactions and content on the web, and using this knowledge to efficiently support innovative applications.
