VEÏNS – Neighbours
VEÏNS aim is to improve the collection of quality data on intercultural perceptions and misinformation at the local level, which can be used by local administrators to create responses to improve social cohesion.
VEÏNS is a conversational mobile game that allows the crowdsourcing of data about intercultural stereotypes and rumours at the local level by collecting information from all in-game interactions. The game’s objectives will not only focus on data collection, but will also challenge online misinformation that directly affects minorities by presenting users with targeted debunkings and allowing citizens to enquire Verificat, Catalan only IFCN and EDMO certified fact-checking organisation, about rumours they’ve come across. As a result, a body of knowledge will be created enhancing practices such as fact-checking, communications and public policy conducted by local administrations or fact-checkers, such as Verificat.
VERIFICAT is a Barcelona-based non-profit fact-checking platform dedicated to political and scientific fact-checking, and to education for the critical consumption of information. VERIFICAT’s newsroom continuously monitors Catalan news, through methods grounded in fact-checking, investigative and transparency journalism, and data journalism.
Furthermore, we are part of the Platform for Media Education in Catalonia, a member of the EDMO and of EDMO’s Spanish and Portuguese hub IBERIFIER; and a verified signatory of the Code o Principles of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN). In this occasion, VEÏNS project is lead by Lorenzo, Serena and Ona.
