Artists for Media Residency programme
This residency track aims at supporting standalone artists or artistic companies proposing an innovative artwork concept and production process. In this track MediaFutures will support artists proposing new ideas and experiences that critically and materially explore data and technology to question its impact on individuals and society.
The focus will be on data relevant to the media value chain, including social media. There is no START phase for the Artist for Media track, as a result selected artists will go directly to the BUILD phase of the programme, where they will receive a grant of up to €25,000 and six months of support to create their proposed work. An additional €5,000 will be granted to the artist receiving the prize at the final demo day.
In this track artists will work with datasets of their choice to create an artwork offering a solution to the challenge they applied to. The artists will be followed by monitors from the MediaFutures partner IRCAM. These monitors will assess their needs and how MediaFutures can support them over the 6 month period. Artists will work closely with other partners of the consortium bringing technical, legal and ethical support, as well as data and computational resources, training and mentorship.
